Gold fell 3.7% on Friday to USD 3,870 per troy ounce, its lowest level in more than a year, and lost almost 7% in October. Commerzbank attributes the sell-off to forced liquidation as equities corrected.
The bank calls the decline excessive and says high US public debt and limited Fed tightening still support gold.
Gold is outside the feed-ingredient commodity set, so the direct effect on feed buyers is limited. The move mainly reflects rate-hike expectations and a broader risk-asset sell-off rather than new supply or demand changes.
