The Canadian dollar rose against the U.S. dollar early on Tuesday, with USD/CAD trading near C$1.3960. A softer U.S. dollar and a rebound in WTI crude, up about 2.3% in the latest session, supported the loonie.
Investors were also watching the U.S. midterm elections and new economic data.
Canada is a major oil exporter, so crude price swings feed directly into the loonie and Canadian export margins. A firmer loonie makes Canadian grain, canola and meal slightly more expensive for foreign buyers.
