The AHDB weekly grain report says prospects for European and Black Sea harvests remain positive as harvest gets underway, and rain in the US Midwest is pressuring prices. Winter barley harvest in France is slow due to wet weather, with 10% cut by 5 July versus 61% last year.
Speculative selling ahead of the USDA world supply and demand report also weighed on prices.
Improved US rainfall and early Black Sea and European harvests add supply expectations that push grain prices lower, while slow French harvest progress is a modest offset. Feed barley remains at a reduced discount to feed wheat than last season.
