UK processor Freshways has cut its base milk price by 7 pence per litre for December, to 29.4ppl. The cut follows increases of 3ppl from 1 September and 6ppl from 1 October that it said selling prices had not recovered.
A sharp farmgate milk price cut signals weaker dairy margins and a possible follow-on from other UK processors, which would pressure milk-based feed demand and sentiment among producers.
