Soybean oil faces two opposing trends: US biofuel producers are consuming more of the oil while soybean crushing is rising, increasing oil supply. After a sharp prior rally, prices are retreating and testing an important technical level, according to a 2 November analysis.
USDA expects 17.8 billion pounds of soybean oil to go into biofuel production in 2026/27, over 20% more year on year, equal to about 54% of domestic use.
Biofuel demand supports soybean oil prices, but higher crush output adds supply and could cap gains. Buyers of soybean meal and oil should expect range-bound pricing unless biofuel margins or competing feedstock prices shift.
