India's government may restrict broken rice exports after domestic wholesale prices rose 5.3 per cent in just over three weeks to November 2. The Indian Rice Exporters' Federation said international prices for 100 per cent broken rice have crossed USD 360 per tonne, and cited strong demand from ethanol producers and poultry feed users.
A possible export curb on broken rice would remove supply from a grade used in feed and ethanol, pushing up international prices and tightening availability for importers.
After 168 past bullish policy events, Rough Rice moved a median +0.8% over 5 sessions (57% higher; middle half -1.7% to +2.1%), and -0.4% over 20.
