Lithuania's presidential national security adviser said Vilnius still supports extending EU sanctions on Belarusian fertilisers, which restrict transit through Klaipėda. He dismissed a Politico report of US pressure to reopen the route as dating from several months earlier.
The sanctions extension is due for consideration at the end of February.
Keeping the Klaipėda transit route closed limits Belarusian potash exports, keeping potash supply tighter and supporting fertiliser prices; a reopening would be a bearish shift for potash costs that feed into livestock feed margins.
