NutriQuest's weekly calculation puts the weaner pig breakeven at $18.48 per cwt for pigs sold in April 2027, up $0.17 on the week. Feed costs fell $2.02 per head and May lean hog futures rose $3.48, while historical basis declined $4.36 per cwt.
Cash weaner prices averaged $21.15, down $1.20 from a week earlier.
Higher hog futures lift the breakeven that buyers can afford to pay for weaners, while lower feed costs offset part of that gain. For feed buyers, the net effect is a modest rise in the value of hog production and little change in corn and meal demand.
