Malaysian palm oil futures fell for a second straight session on Tuesday, with the January contract on Bursa Malaysia down 37 ringgit, or 0.8%, to 4,612 ringgit per metric ton in early trade. Weaker Dalian oils drove the decline, while firmer crude oil and Chicago soyoil limited losses.
Weakness in Dalian palm olein and rival oils pressures palm prices, while support from crude and soyoil limits the downside. Palm oil is a substitute for soyoil in feed and food, so cross-market moves in vegetable oils shape buyer costs.
