On November 3 Chinese livestock stocks rallied in early trade. Spot outer-three-yuan hog prices were 9.01 yuan/kg, close to the year low of 8.63 yuan/kg.
Q3-end sow inventory fell to 36.02 million head, below the 37.5 million normal holding line, and the far-month hog futures contract trades about 2,900 yuan/t above the front month.
Sow herd contraction points to tighter pork supply from the second quarter of 2027, while the futures curve prices in future improvement, which may support longer-term feed demand expectations.
