The rupee gained 12 paise to 94.72 against the dollar in early trade on Tuesday after softer crude prices and continued foreign fund inflows into equities. Foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 3,114.68 crore on Monday, and the Sensex and Nifty rose in early trading.
Foreign portfolio inflows and lower oil both support the rupee and reduce India's external financing pressure. A firm dollar ahead of the US midterms is limiting the rally.
