The RBA lifted its cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.85%, the highest since November 2008, in a 6-3 vote with three members preferring to hold. The AUD/USD pair traded near 0.6975-0.6980 and extended losses for a second day.
The RBA now expects inflation to return to the 2-3% target only in late 2027 and unemployment to rise toward 5.1% by late 2028.
A split vote and a weaker growth outlook reduce the currency's support, which makes Australian export prices in USD more competitive. The effect on feed commodity prices is limited.
