The European Commission has approved US firm Koch's acquisition of a 50% stake in Jorf Fertilizers Company I (JFC1), a unit of Morocco's OCP group at Jorf Lasfar, under a simplified review granted on October 30, 2026. The approval follows a similar clearance in Ukraine on October 29, but further legal and contractual conditions remain before the deal closes.
The price and valuation have not been disclosed.
JFC1 has 1.2 million tonnes a year of phosphate capacity producing DAP and MAP, so joint ownership adds a major phosphate supplier to the global market but is a regulatory step rather than a supply change, leaving near-term phosphate prices largely unaffected.
After 36 past neutral trade events, DAP moved a median +0.7% over 5 sessions (64% higher; middle half -0.0% to +2.1%), and +0.4% over 20.
