Executive Order No. 129, signed October 26, raises the Philippine 2026 corn import quota from 220,000 to 500,000 metric tons at a lower tariff. The guidelines determining which millers and feed producers receive the allocation have not yet been issued.
The extra 280,000 tons covers about 20 percent of a projected 1.422 million ton yellow corn deficit, supporting Philippine corn import demand. Lower duties are a bullish signal for corn imports from suppliers.
After 729 past bullish trade events, Corn moved a median +0.4% over 5 sessions (56% higher; middle half -1.1% to +1.8%), and +0.5% over 20.
