Vietnamese livestock farms face squeezed margins as feed prices have been raised several times since early 2026, with some rises of 18-20% versus January. Live pig prices have fallen to 45,000-47,000 VND/kg, more than 10,000 VND below a year earlier and below production cost, and many farms have paused restocking.
Feed makes up 60-70% of production cost and Vietnam imports most of its corn, wheat and soymeal, so higher import costs are squeezing producers. Weak hog and poultry prices and paused restocking point to softer domestic feed demand ahead.
