A-share hog producers reported net losses in their Q3 2026 results as white-carcass pork prices stayed weak and hovered at low levels. Companies including Muyuan, Juxing and New Hope said they are cutting production costs, with Muyuan's full cost falling to just under 11.5 yuan/kg in September.
Producers also cited national capacity-control policy as a factor that could tighten supply into 2027.
Persistently low hog prices and losses at producers point to reduced herd rebuilding and slower hog feed demand in China, which weighs on demand for corn and soybean meal. Any tightening of capacity from policy could support hog prices later, but the near-term price outlook stays soft.
