Fenalce, Colombia's national federation of grain, legume and soy growers, proposed a tripartite agreement between producers, industry and government based on a consensus Action Plan. The plan aims to reduce dependence on corn and soybean imports.
Measures include reference prices, production contracts, price-hedging tools and incentives for buying domestic harvests.
If adopted, domestic corn and soy supply could displace imports over time, which would reduce import demand for feed grains and soybean meal in Colombia. The proposal is still at the stage of a request, so its near-term price impact is limited.
After 439 past neutral policy events, Corn moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.2%), and +1.1% over 20.
After 554 past neutral policy events, Soybeans moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.4% to +1.6%), and +0.6% over 20.
