Lloyd's List Intelligence data show 305 cargo vessels carrying 27.6 million tons transited the Suez Canal from October 19 to 25, 2026. Weekly tonnage was 35% above the October 2025 average but still 36% below pre-Red Sea-crisis levels, and ultra-large container ship transits have risen since September.
A partial return of traffic through Suez eases vessel capacity tightness and could soften ocean freight rates over time, though volumes remain well below normal and routing risk persists.
