Belarus's Lukashenka reportedly pitched the long-delayed Nezhinsky Mining and Processing Plant, a potash project, to American investors as a major deal, but they did not take it up. The plant, designed for up to 2 million tonnes of potash fertiliser a year, was started in 2015 and has seen its completion deadlines slip repeatedly.
Potash supply from Belarus is a significant global fertiliser source, and a delayed Nezhinsky plant means no near-term addition to supply. Continued delay keeps potash availability tight, which supports fertiliser costs for feed-grain producers.
