The Colombian peso dollar rate closed the last week of October at COP 3,194, up COP 49 (+1.6%) from the prior week's start, marking four consecutive days of gains. The Banco de la República kept its benchmark rate at 12.25% after three board members voted for a 25-basis-point hike.
A hold rather than a hike weakens the peso's yield appeal to investors, supporting the dollar against the COP. For feed importers paying in dollars, a stronger dollar raises local-currency costs for imported feed ingredients.
