Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting on 2 November on progress building the Nezhin Mining and Processing Complex, citing difficulties in completing the project. The first and second phases were originally due by 3 July 2026 and the government has committed to finish works by 1 November; about 400 thousand tonnes of potash fertiliser have been produced and sold on export markets since the first output in September 2025.
Lukashenko asked for clarity on when the plant will reach 1.1-1.2 million tonnes of output, with phases three and four targeted by end-2027 for 2 million tonnes of potassium chloride a year.
Belarusian potash is a major global fertiliser source, so delays at Nezhin constrain added supply and keep potash prices supported. The project's sanctions-linked financing and missed deadlines suggest only gradual additions to export availability.
