The US dollar fell against the Egyptian pound for a third straight session on Monday, losing the 56-pound level it had first crossed in late October. Quoted bank rates ranged roughly from 55.50 to 55.86 pounds, with the central bank's official rate around 55.72 to 55.86.
A firmer pound lowers the local-currency cost of imported feed grains, soymeal and fertiliser for Egyptian buyers, though the move may reverse if hot-money flows weaken again.
