A panel of fuel industry experts at the Wex OTR Summit said diesel price volatility is likely to persist into early 2027. Diesel rose above $5 per gallon from March after the US-Iran conflict began, and hit a record $6.53 per gallon in late summer.
Dow Jones Energy's Denton Cinquegrana said 2027 futures remain near $90 per barrel for WTI and above $100 for Brent.
Diesel is a major freight and farm input cost, and a sustained high price path raises haulage and fuel surcharge costs for feed deliveries. Futures curves above $100 Brent for 2027 indicate that feed-ingredient logistics costs are unlikely to ease soon.
