Norges Sildesalgslag cut minimum reference auction prices for Norwegian spring-spawning herring grades 1 to 4 for direct human consumption by 6.3% to 7.5% effective November 2, 2026, while grade 5 stayed unchanged. The minimum benchmark price for Atlantic mackerel of 250 g and above rose about 1.5%, and fishmeal-destined mackerel prices were unchanged.
These are mandatory floor prices for first sales, not spot prices, so the effect on feed markets is indirect. Lower herring floor prices may signal softer pelagic raw-material values, which can weigh modestly on fishmeal and fish oil costs.
