Canola futures fell as heavy losses in crude oil spilled into global vegetable oil markets, dragging down the soy complex. Some farmer selling slowed, which gave partial support, and harvest progress was reported across most of Western Canada with only a few fields left in northern Alberta.
Weaker vegetable oil and crude prices reduce the value of canola and soybean oil, which pressures canola meal and soybean oil prices. Slower farmer selling tightens nearby canola supply and limits the downside.
