The upgraded China-Peru free trade agreement is now in force. Tariffs are already near zero on 94.6% of tariff lines, so the upgrade focuses on rules such as standards, e-commerce, competition, supply chains and environment.
China took 36.2% of Peru's exports in 2025.
With tariffs largely eliminated, the upgrade mainly affects compliance and trade facilitation rather than volumes or prices. It is unlikely to shift feed commodity markets in the near term.
