Methanex reported third-quarter adjusted earnings of $3.69 per share, above analyst estimates, on revenue of about $1.39 billion. Shares rose about 14% to a 52-week high after the company redeemed $300M of debt and authorized a 5% buyback.
The earnings gain was driven by war-related supply disruption in the Strait of Hormuz and record methanol prices, which tie methanol and energy costs together. This is a company-level story with little direct effect on feed commodity prices.
