Asian propylene prices rose sharply last week on tight spot availability and higher upstream costs. FOB Korea, CFR China, CFR Taiwan and CFR Southeast Asia assessments each rose roughly USD 70-90/mt week on week, while downstream buyers delayed purchases and trading stayed thin.
Propylene is a petrochemical feedstock with little direct link to feed grains, so the effect on animal-feed buyers is indirect, mainly through energy-linked cost pressure on plastics and packaging. The move reflects the broader energy supply squeeze.
