Dry bulk congestion in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman remains elevated more than six months into the Middle East shipping crisis. As of 28 October, 265 dry bulk vessels were waiting across 29 ports, led by Fujairah with 74 and Sohar with 50.
The regional waiting count is running about 75% above last year.
Vessels stuck at anchor reduce prompt tonnage availability, which can firm dry bulk freight rates, although the impact depends on how long vessels wait. This supports freight costs for grain and feed cargoes moving through the Gulf.
