Vietnam's 5% broken white rice export price rose USD 30 in one week to USD 470-480 per tonne, the highest in nearly two years. Exporters attributed the jump to tighter domestic supply, with the autumn-winter harvest not expected until late November and output about half the summer-autumn crop.
Vietnam's price now sits in line with Thailand and well above India's USD 389-394, so tighter Asian supply and firmer export offers could support global rough rice prices. Importers are also securing supplies early because of El Niño concerns for 2027.
