Mosaic may restart its idled Colonsay potash mine in early 2017 as international buyers work through inventories. The company reported Q3 sales of 2.2 million tonnes at an average realized price of $160 per tonne, down from $265 a year earlier.
A restart would add 2.6 million tonnes of annual capacity and increase supply, which is bearish for potash prices. Stronger demand in Brazil, India and China could partly offset that effect.
