UFOP reports vegetable oil prices have risen substantially over the past six months, with palm oil up about 24% in early August after a 3% output decline. US soybean oil prices have also climbed since mid-October as record US soybean processing reduced domestic oil supplies.
Tighter palm and soybean oil supplies and rising crude oil prices, which boost biodiesel feedstock demand, support further vegetable oil gains. Strong crush demand also produces more meal, so the price implication for soybean meal is less clear.
