Peru's second commercial anchovy season will begin November 15 with a 2 million metric ton quota, based on a recommendation from the IMARPE fishery science center. Stock assessments put Peruvian anchovy biomass at 6.86 million metric tons, among the highest in the past 20 years.
The quota restores a meaningful share of fishmeal supply after a poor first season, which pressures fishmeal prices lower. Buyers may find cheaper fishmeal alternatives for feed.
