Rabobank's Global Poultry Quarterly Q4 2016 calls the new avian influenza wave an unwelcome development that is shaking up global meat and breeding stock trade. The report says the outbreaks come as the industry had strong market balances and low costs.
The outbreaks could cut meat and breeder trade flows and add risk to 2017 poultry output, which tends to support chicken prices. Lower feed costs and healthy margins limit the scale of the price effect.
