Peru's Ministry of Production shut 20 anchovy fishing areas after boats landed more anchoveta than allowed, with catches exceeding the second-season quota by about 20.8%. Four more areas were under recommended temporary suspension, based on IMARPE advice, and small fish made up a notable share of catches.
Closures reduce the anchoveta supply available for fishmeal and fish oil, which tightens global fishmeal supply and supports prices for feed buyers.
