The Georgia Department of Agriculture launched the Georgia Premium Poultry Price Index (GPPPI) to replace the suspended Georgia Dock chicken pricing system. The new index uses weekly contract sales reports from processors with verification requirements, after media scrutiny and lawsuits alleging industry price-fixing.
A more transparent contract price benchmark changes how chicken contracts are priced in Georgia, but it does not directly shift supply or demand for feed grains.
