Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors plan to cut malt barley purchase contracts with Montana growers by 20 to 60 percent for 2017 due to oversupply from recent large harvests. The two brewers together account for nearly two-thirds of northcentral Montana barley purchases.
Lower malting contract demand means more barley is likely to move into the feed channel, which adds pressure on feed barley prices.
