Peru will close its second anchovy fishing season on January 27 with 1.73 million metric tons landed, about 86.5% of the 2 million ton quota. The 2016-17 second-season harvest is 1.1 million tons above the previous year's second season.
A larger harvest than last year adds fishmeal supply to the market, which is bearish for fishmeal prices. The closure also confirms that the season ended below full quota.
