The USGS released its annual data on phosphate rock and potash for calendar and crop years. US marketable phosphate rock output was 26.2 million tonnes in crop year 2016.
Domestic consumption fell about 2.4%, and producer stocks rose 36%.
The data confirms soft US phosphate rock demand and rising stocks, which points to ample supply. The impact on prices is limited because the figures describe past-year activity.
