The State Bank of Vietnam raised its daily reference rate by 4 VND to 22,232 VND per USD on February 28. The permitted trading band is plus or minus 3 percent, giving a ceiling of 22,899 VND and a floor of 21,565 VND.
Opening quotes at major banks such as Vietcombank and BIDV fell by 25 to 70 VND from the previous day.
The small rise in the reference rate is routine and has little effect on feed costs, though it indicates the dong is still soft against the dollar.
