Colombia's central bank lowered its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points from 7.5% to 7.25%, the second cut in three months, by a 4-2 board vote. The bank said inflation fell for a sixth straight month in January, though analyst inflation expectations for December 2017 remain above its 2-4% target.
The bank's baseline 2017 GDP growth forecast is 2.0%.
The rate cut reflects a shift from hikes since mid-2015 toward easing, which can weaken the peso and raise import costs for feed ingredients in Colombia; the direct effect on feed commodity prices is small.
