LNG Industry reports that Britain's Rough gas storage site, its only seasonal storage facility, can now handle only about 5% of peak daily demand versus roughly 10% normally. Six wells have permanently closed and storage capacity is set to be reduced.
The decline will increase import dependence and wholesale price volatility.
Less UK storage means greater exposure to winter price spikes and higher import costs for gas-fired power and processing. This could push up UK energy costs for feed plants.
