Peru's second anchovy season officially ended in early 2017 and generated about USD 1 billion in revenue for the sector, according to the Ministry of Production. The ministry said responsible management preserved around 300,000 tonnes of juvenile anchovy for future seasons.
The season's strong catch and conservation measures indicate steady fishmeal supply from Peru. This supports the view that fishmeal prices will not spike on supply shortage in the near term.
