Brazilian animal byproduct suppliers expect to export meat and bone meal to Thailand once a pending sanitary agreement is approved, with ABRA targeting summer 2017. Brazil exported 140,000 metric tons of animal meal in 2016 to Chile, Vietnam and Bangladesh, and gained access to Malaysia.
Thailand has no domestic rendering industry and relies on imports, so new Brazilian supply could add competition for MBM sold from Europe and Australia, a modest bearish factor for meal prices and a new export outlet for Brazilian renderers.
