Canadian canola exports through January 2017 were 5.449 million tonnes, up 13.8% year over year, with China shipments catching up after a slow start to the crop year. The Canadian Grain Commission data showed cumulative exports 9.8% higher than the prior year by late February.
Strong exports and an AAFC export estimate of 10 million tonnes point to tighter canola supplies, supporting meal and oil prices.
