The National Cotton Council said it was extremely disappointed that the fiscal 2017 omnibus bill left out its cottonseed policy. NCC Chairman Ronnie Lee blamed Senators Leahy and Stabenow for linking cotton support to dairy aid.
He said cotton producers now have no near-term options for their economic problems.
The loss of a near-term cotton support could affect cotton acreage and cottonseed supply in later seasons. The direct price impact on feed markets is minor.
