USDA's Poultry Production and Value 2016 Summary shows combined poultry and egg value fell 20% to $38.7 billion. Egg production value dropped 52% to $6.48 billion even though egg output rose 5% to 102 billion eggs.
The report shows lower poultry product values and rising egg output, which reflects weaker poultry prices rather than tighter supply. Stable or rising broiler and egg production supports continued feed grain demand.
