Rabobank analysts report a positive global pork outlook through the second and third quarters of 2017, with demand supporting margins along the supply chain. They expect Chinese domestic pork supplies to recover in the third quarter as new investment comes online, and Japanese pork consumption rose 4.4 percent in January-February.
Firm pork demand and margins support hog prices and encourage continued U.S. pork exports, which supports demand for feed. A Chinese supply recovery later in 2017 could temper import demand.
