A LinkedIn article reports that Russia's imports of L-lysine are growing alongside rising compound feed production, which reached about 26 million tonnes in 2016 and is forecast to grow 21% by 2021. Amino acids are largely imported because local grain supply is covered domestically but not amino acids or protein concentrates.
Rising feed output and import demand for lysine support higher amino acid consumption, which tends to firm lysine prices. The effect on grain and meal prices is minor.
