An IMF staff report says Colombia is adjusting to a large, persistent oil price shock while growth has slowed under policy tightening. It notes inflation rose above the target band from temporary shocks and is expected to moderate.
The report also flags elevated capital-account risks and faster US interest rate hikes as threats to emerging markets.
The report points to continued tight monetary policy and a floating exchange rate in Colombia, which keeps the peso volatile for importers. Higher US rates and weaker oil prices could pressure emerging-market currencies and raise feed import costs.
